This practice is contrary to the National Building Regulations (NBR), which stipulates that anyone who materially deviates from an approved plan, drawing, or details without proper approval commits an offence. Such product specification changes cannot be sanctioned by contractors, owners, or any other involved parties. All modifications to approved plans need to be presented to the Local Authority for consent prior to the commencement of construction.
